The End

The End, the simplest two words at the end of most books. Most writers are so happy to finally write this or XXX at the conclusion of their book but sometimes you feel sad knowing that you won't be writing anymore about this story especially if it is a series whose time has come to call it an end. I know as I write the final saga of my Lightning in the Tunnel series in Lightning Rages the final book of the ten book series, I feel sadness. The characters over the past few years have become family to me. I know I will miss Brad, Michele, Vicki, Jenny, Angel, JJ, Toni and especially Patty (Better known as Bitch) she is my wife's favorite character.  They became family just as they became family to me! Over a ten book series, you wake up each morning thinking what kind of problems will they have to overcome this day. That was why I was so reluctant to write the final saga because inside I really didn't want it to end. I avoided writing it going off to write other books like A Stranger Comes Crawling, T. T. Gristman (Time Traveler), Brandi's Nightmare and my Chronicles of the Marauder series. All just so I wouldn't have to write Lightning Rages, The End! Now that so many have read the series up to the next to the last one, A Need for Lightning, I finally have started to finish Lightning Rages and conclude the series. Even though it was partially written before I jumped off into those other books, I like all writers decided to rewrite most of it to bring the series to a conclusion. Even though the series was published by three different publishers, here is each of the books in the series in order.
Lightning in the Tunnel Begins; Lightning in the Tunnel-Rescue, Zigzagging Home, The Journey Continues.*; A place called Terra; Terror Reigns, General Tomahawk Rises; Changes a Bullet Makes; A Need for Lightning and now, Lightning Rages! All these books are available in paperback or as ebooks with a few available in hardbacks. Honest reviews

This weekend I decided to try something new. I received an offer to review a book not yet published from one of my friends on Goodreads and decided to give it a shot. Now, I know how that works where authors get reviews and their books are not even out yet. I saw several comments about authors getting reviews and their book was not published yet and wanted to see how it works so I did. I have yet to write the review but will this week, the author Joshua Lisec asked if I could get it posted on amazon by July 31 and I will. The publisher sent me the first three chapters in PDF form for me to review along with the usual advertisements pushing the book.
My wife and I sat down facing the computer screen and read the chapters together. I wanted her input as well since she reads a couple of books a day being an avid reader like me but since I spend a lot of time writing, I don't get to read as much. I found the story grabbing me from the start as Joshua described in detail with such accuracy that you could have been right there seeing things unfold in front of you. He made you feel right there and the story is a good one or at least perked our interest enough to want to buy it when it comes out. His writing style reminds me of Half-light's writing style on Figment where she is able to make you see what the characters see and feel like you are right there with them. Kate is an excellent writer with very good word descriptions and will be a great writer when she publishes her work. The Phoenix Reich by Joshua Lisec is a very good mystery book, he sets the stage for a very intriguing story that is feasible. Get your copy when it comes out if you love mysteries!
Reading the two of them's work, I see what some of my writing is missing. More descriptive writing components so the reader sees what I'm seeing in my mind when I write. That is why Stephen King says to read, read and read to become a better writer. Talk back, I'm Listening!

Monday Blahs

One of the nice things about being retired, is I don't have to put up with the Monday morning blahs caused by a weekend filled with events. I am lucky to even know what day it is most of the time. LOL!  It took about a year before my body adjusted to not having to get up at any particular time, now I can sleep in when I want and stay up as late as I want without suffering from the blahs. Since I do most of my writing in the evening or at night, this lifestyle is perfect for me. Do you still have Monday blahs?
Speaking of writing, Several of those that have read my entire Dystopia/apocalyptic series Lightning in the Tunnel series have been requesting I get the last installment published. One of my avid readers drove over fifty miles wanting the final book. He is hooked on the series and has just purchased A Need For Lightning and wanted to know when Lightning Rages will be out. I pacified him by offering him my new Science Fiction series called "Chronicles of the Marauder Book One" to read until Lightning Rages comes out. I don't even have a cover for it. He was happy to start another series even if it is radically different than the Lightning in the Tunnel Series.
I came back home after meeting with him and his wife, then started on wrapping up Lightning Rages so it can go to the editing next month, hopefully. It has a ways to go before that. LOL!. I know I should have finished it months ago but was into writing the Marauder Chronicles and never came back to finish it.
It was nice to chat with you, Talk back, I'm Listening!

Writer's crying!

Most readers never know that the writer cried when writing a certain scene where something bad happens to one of their favorite characters or they die. I know I cry because the characters become so real that you feel their pain, heartaches and suffering. When you write a novel or a series, the characters become so real and your friends that when you have to kill one of them off or die of natural causes making those left behind in pain of the loss. You cry! I know in my earlier books that I had to stop writing a scene many times because I couldn't see the screen. I am not so sure I conveyed that heartache to the book I was writing back then but I feel I am getting more of the emotions into the scenes now instead of just skimming over them. The emotions I'm speaking of are the ones the writer feels when writing that scene of sadness. I have found when I'm feeling sad about something and start to write, I'm more inclined to have my characters suffer some kind of tragedy in my stories. Most writers know, it is not easy to get these feelings on paper or on screen. After writing sixteen books, I think I am finally getting the hang of it learning not only is the story having to be interesting, the characters must feel and be real to the reader as they are to you. I think once you get that down pat, you are on your way to becoming a great writer. I have a long way to go! LOL!
Check out my books at my author center and see if I'm improving, I think I am but only the reader knows for sure. http://www.amazon.com/author/agmoye  Talk back to me! I'm listening and would love your opinion on this subject!

Mind Junk!

Writers! Don't you just hate it when you are in the middle of writing a story and in your head pops another story disrupting the flow of the story you are writing? Last night, when writing in my head the rest of the story of the Chronicles of the Marauder Book Three another Story that for now I'm calling it "Light" until I think of another name that comes into my head. It is a short story filled with magic, witches and goblins along with other creatures of terror including the living dead. I wonder if I will actually write the whole thing and publish it. Either way, I know I need to finish some of the other stories that I have started but "Light" keeps hanging around in my mind this morning. I guess I should do other things than write today so I can get back on track and finish my series. At least my imagination keeps rolling along adding new ideas, I like that, Do you?
My sister,Barbara is coming to live with us. The nice thing is she has a RV and wants me to drive it for her so we can travel around the country and enjoy the sights. She is in poor health and wants to live before she can no longer do anything. I am happy to be able to drive her around and help take care of her. The only bad part is I won't have as much time to write but she is bringing her laptop so I guess I can still write some.  I just won't blog as much which will make some people happy not hearing from me. LOL!

Post number 101

It is hard to believe that I have posted over one hundred posts on this site. Originally created to talk to everyone on the Internet about whatever came to mind and occasionally mention my books along with letting everyone know a little about what is going on with my life. Sometimes seeking their advice and sometimes giving advice. I like the way a few people out there give me feedback on different subjects.
This weekend, I'm going to a concert. I haven't been to one since I went to a Tina Turner concert a long time ago right after she had her hit "What has love got to do with it?" I like good music but rap turns me off, I guess I am getting old and all the cussing bothers me. Normally a country music fan but some of the new songs are just as bad as Rap. Soul music, Blues and other good music can make my day. What kind of music do you listen to? To me if it lifts my spirits it is good music especially when you can hear the words. My with and I like to dance and I am learning to play the guitar, maybe some day play it enough to be able to follow along , right now, I sound terrible and have trouble switching my fingers around to play the cords. I guess they are so accustom to the keyboard, they don't want to change fast enough. LOL!
Now a little chatting about my books. My "Chronicles of the Marauder Book One" is selling good, not a best seller by any means but enough have been buying it so I'm seeking reviewers to rate it. I presented it to the Orchard Book Club and Carolina Book Club. I am hoping one of them decides to review it and it is somewhat positive. If neither does, then I will try to have R2R on Goodreads to review it. Everyone that has purchased it seems to like it and many have purchased "Chronicles of the Marauder Book Two" to read.
Instead of giving you the links, I will just say it is easier to look at my books by going to http://www.amazon.com/author/agmoye or my website at http://sites.google.com/site/booksbyagmoye
